Techport Underwater Taxonomy event

The first TECHPORT Underwater Taxonomy event took place on Tuesday, October 22nd, in the beautiful setting of Palazzo Pancaldi in Livorno.

Standardizing underwater systems is crucial for converging towards common platform logic rather than vendor-centric ones, ensuring compatibility and dissemination of devices developed by different vendors. The complexity of achieving this is undeniable. A few industry giants control 50% of the market, while the remaining 50% is in the hands of a multitude of small companies, making convergence towards a shared architecture a significant challenge.

The TECHPORT Underwater Taxonomy event was the first meeting where DRASS‘s technology partners engaged with distinguished representatives of the Italian Navy to share their vision and gather valuable insights. The event, focused on monitoring critical infrastructures, particularly emphasized understanding the underwater scenario and the use of swarms of robots.

This was the focus of the presentation by Federico Mazzitelli, head of Marine Robotics at aitronik. Federico provided an overview of distributed guidance and navigation systems for swarms of underwater robots, covering underwater communications and distributed control systems.

The TECHPORT Underwater Taxonomy event was a forward-thinking event with a practical and concrete approach, and we extend our thanks to the entire DRASS team, all the speakers and attendees who contributed to its success.

You can find the 3rd panel “How to manage swarms of underwater drones: Standardization by types and sensors, distributed guidance and navigation systems, intelligent signal processinghere (in Italian).
